Rick Perry imagines day one

By way of Shine a Light

While visiting a Carolinas Hospital System classroom today in Florence, South Carolina, candidate Rick Perry took a moment to consider President Rick Perry:

“So I want to share with you one thing: If I’m so fortunate to be elected the President of the United States, on day one, when I walk into the Oval Office, there will be an executive order on that desk that eliminates as much of Obamacare that I can have done with an executive order.

“Now hopefully, Lord willing, the 11th Court of Appeals has already found that that individual mandate is unconstitutional, and hopefully that will be gone to the Supreme Court and I won’t have to deal with that.”

Nearly one in five South Carolinians — not counting seniors — have no health insurance.

Pandora’s box

Feels as if I have just opened it. Just posted the Perry Mason/Star Trek article on my facebook page. OK, here’s the story. Freepress started out as my private blog a year or so ago. It got me back in the habit of writing often after a hiatus during motherhood and illness. Then I started writing online for the Examiner. I have 3 blogs there now: a Chicago column on women’s health, one on sexual health, and a newer one out of Houston on renewable energy. That and trying to earn a living, doing alumni stuff for Penn and Booth, helping honcho the collectible books sorting and annual booth for the Oak Park Public Library, and counseling alcoholic/addicted youth, are keeping me pretty busy. So hello to all my old friends, and please stay in touch, and hello to the newer ones, hoping we get to know each other better. Now I’ll see if I can get something totally fun up here before the end of August.
